Native Woodnotes Wild is a book of sonnets. The sonnet is like a song of words. The music is in the metre, rhyme and meaning. They are a bit like little vignettes into the soul of the poet and his muse - the inspiration from which is perhaps personal, yet also universal. It could be said that the general but not inclusive theme of these sonnets, is love: its exultation, pain, delusion, loss, celebration, desire, beauty and other anecdotes. Sonnets should read easily, almost as if they just appeared, in the sense that they had no author or precondition; they just arrive from the elements effortlessly, or so it would seem. In fact, a sonnet may take years to finish writing - a labour of love, if you will. And so over the years a collection emerges. May the reader set forth and discover his or her own experience.
