The year is 1941. The Battle of Britain is over and Operation Barbarosa, Hitler's invasion of Russia, is about to begin. A Canadian pilot, flying Hurricanes, is shot down in occupied France on his last mission before being rested. He will evade the Germans, but his experiences during that time will change his life forever. At age twenty-two, Richard Forrester finds true love only to lose it before finding a measure of happiness. Plagued by guilt and remorse, he enters a new phase in his life and a different kind of war.
